So today, I made the now common trip down to Vista, CA to work on my brother's new house some more and in the peak of my immature frustration, I noticed something taking place around me.

The repetition of motion in everyday life.
The repetition of motion in everyday life.
The repetition of motion in everyday life.
The repetition of motion in everyday life.
The repetition of motion in everyday life.
The repetition of motion in everyday life.
The repetition of motion in everyday life.

Mmm, well not just that...it goes a little beyond that believe it or not.

How much beyond that, well I don't know if that's for me to decide.

Today, my mother turns on the hose that runs through the plants at my brother's house and steadily nourishes them with water. As I move towards the origin of the hose, I notice a frenzy of ants scattering in a line, but they are divided by those that run in one direction and those that run in the opposite direction. From my perspective, there is a repetition of dashes moving in opposite directions. Pretty abstract, but noticeable.

Simple things, like the movements one makes to wash windows or just bluntly one's daily routine. We are creatures of HABIT, creatures of REPETITION, and quite honestly, I'm not so sure it's a good thing.

So I now have 10 days left at home and today I came to the realization that it's almost time to start packing...ahh and yee. Hopefully my roll of film comes in tomorrow. There are some interesting photos to come...

Up

At just before 4:20 am AGAIN...weird.

The noises that come from the refinery late at night give me a nervous feeling; I really should get back to sleep...

Just Arrived!

My Cal Poly annual resident parking pass!

Yeeeeee, excitement!

Exactly What I Needed

Mmm, "Georgia," by Ray Charles just came on smooth jazz 94.7: the station I've been listening to lately at nights on my record player/radio/cd player/cassette player [whew, that was a mouthful] at night. Pretty peaceful and now nostalgic due to the song. Mmm, let me pause and enjoy the song with no distractions...

There's something about the tone of Mr. Charles' voice in the song that seems so genuine in my opinion...I really enjoy that.

In regards to the title of the 2nd post of today, I am simply providing one description of this day that is still in motion. Took the drum circle slide roll in to be cross-processed and developed; I'm hoping to get that back by Wednesday or Thursday (photos will be posted :]). Went apartment shopping with mom, got pho for lunch with mom and sis, spent some time catching up with my sister, got a new pair of fly shades ;], and spent some quality time with the homies. The perfect balance of multiple elements of my life.

12 days until I move to San Luis Obispo. See the mustang up there? Took that photo on my spring break trip up to see the school, aka my first visit to Cal Poly.

Looks like I'll be making another trip down to Vista, CA tomorrow to help my brother decorate his new house some more. Now I think I'm going to try to watch some more of "The Hours."

Dream 1

So it's just after 4:20 am and I just woke up from one of those familiar feeling dreams. I know I've had this dream before, just with a different person playing the same role.

A friend (Sydney) and I decide to rent surfboards and while doing that I see my brother and ask him if he wants to watch over us while we go paddle out. He says he's busy so we take the boards to the ocean. For some reason the place we decide to start entering the water is shallow and blocked off by what seems to be a jetty. So we continue to try to travel south, but the water's current keeps pushing us north.

Eventually we reach a point where there are plenty more people in the water with intertubes and other random water toys, similar to those you would see on a lake. And then there is some sort of building set up near the edge of the jetty where a house/electronica DJ is playing music. Everyone in the water seems to enjoy the music. OH-I remember now. This place was supposed to be Santa Cruz and I drove to it from SLO, but for some reason it only took like 30 mins to get there, which I remember being really excited about in the dream. The top of the water is covered with a layer of steam/fog. Yeah and I never end up getting to try out surfing because I never end up reaching the part of the ocean with actual waves.

Oh my, I think as I'm typing this all out, I'm beginning to possibly understand what it all means in correspondence with my life at the present time...I think it's time to make some changes.

Home

In exactly 2 weeks, I will be in a completely new place. This new place, San Luis Obispo, rests 3 and a half hours north of the community in which I have spent the last 18 years of my life-aka Chapter 1.

Chapter 1 takes place in both Torrance and Redondo Beach, CA. If I had to describe it in just one word, the word would be: EXPERIENCE.

Oh, I could go on and on for days, probably months, describing the many experiences that took place during this time. But-notice the title of this blog: Chapter 2.

Moving away from everything and everyone at home scares me shitless, not going to lie about that one...but, I have a good feeling about Cal Poly SLO. It's definitely time for a change, or ten, to happen in my life. This summer has definitely been one of some drastic changes and what I've learned from these changes is that sometimes change is necessary. And, well, it's not always such a bad thing...just different. Sometimes enlightening and educational. Sometimes a little scary, but the universe tends to unfold itself as it should. So for now, I'm just going with the flow and accepting all that life throws my way.

Tonight I took a sunset stroll down to the harbor with my dog. I lifted both myself and him up on the wall that divides the ocean and the marina and together we observed the sunset and listened to the nocturnal sea lions that love to bark in the sleepy hours of the night and wake me up. I love my home so much.
